An Iconic Addition to the NYC Skyline

One Bryant Park—also known as the Bank of America Tower—currently stands as one of the tallest buildings in New York City and the United States. Developed by The Durst Organization and designed by the renowned COOKFOX Architects, One Bryant Park was the first skyscraper in North America to attain a Platinum LEED Certification.

Activating One Bryant Park

A premier Class A tower, One Bryant Park has consistently drawn attention from CRE professionals across the country. Durst sought to match the building’s innovative design with compelling amenities. Durst installed Captivate elevator displays to keep tenants and visitors engaged with informative content. Recently, to help facilitate communicating with all building tenants under one platform, Durst integrated Captivate’s messaging platform, ScreenCenter™.

Current Relationship & Success

Today, the property utilizes Captivate’s modern 12” Flush Mounted screens in 38 elevator cabs, ideally placed for optimal viewing and continues to utilize Captivate ScreenCenter™ to keep tenants informed of initiatives such as building and community events and philanthropic drives. Durst also decided to expand their usage of Captivate and installed the network into eight additional buildings in the New York City market.

Building History

Prominently positioned on the Magnificent Mile, 500 North Michigan is a commercial high-rise that has been delivering a home away from home to Chicagoans since 1968. Originally designed by world-renowned architectural firm Skidmore & Merrill, the building retains its timeless modern profile of tinted windows and travertine stone.

Redevelopment With Captivate in Mind

When purchasing 500 North Michigan in 2012, Macerich planned a redevelopment, with the end goal of connecting the property with neighboring Shops at North Bridge. Although the properties were never physically joined, Macerich did lead a full renovation at 500 North Michigan, at which point three Wall Street Journal Office Media Network (OMN) screens—which Captivate acquired and converted in 2014—had already been installed into the building. Macerich removed those screens during construction only and reinstalled them as soon as the project was completed, wanting to continue to deliver a media experience their tenants had become accustomed to enjoying. The screens are now positioned in two elevator banks, which are two of the most highly trafficked areas of the building by tenants. The property is especially keen on giving tenants something to keep them engaged while waiting for the elevators to arrive.

New Age Hardware. Same Great Captivate Experience.

500 North Michigan has since expanded its use of Captivate by integrating ScreenCenter™, Captivate’s tenant communication tool, which they actively use today. Upgrades have included new Large Format Display hardware with thinner monitors that fit seamlessly into the building’s chic interior. The new displays provide access to tenant directory, alert messaging system, and custom content from property management.

Upgrades to Meet New Workforce Demands

Building History

A stately art-deco skyscraper in the heart of Flatiron, 11 Madison is instantly recognizable. Originally designed to be on hundred floors high, in 1933, construction was halted due to the onset of the Great Depression, and by the time work was completed in 1950, plans to go higher had been scrapped. Sold multiple times over the course of its history, the first owner to install Captivate, Sapir—who owned the building from ‘02 to ‘15— initially added screens to 15 of the building’s 41 cabs, with an additional four screens in the lobby. By the time the building was sold next to SL Green, Captivate had been contracted to install screens in each of the remaining 26 passenger elevator cabs.

With Change Comes New Opportunity

The building sale to SL Green for $2.6 billion was the largest single-building transaction in New York City history. Following this audacious purchase in 2015, SL Green led a drastic repositioning of 11 Madison. With an overarching goal of attracting top-tier tenants, SL Green set out to improve communication and maintain an exceptional experience within the property. They chose to retain Captivate’s elevator and lobby displays, and before long, had landed premier tenants.

Adding Captivate Helps Deliver Against Raised Expectations

Since integrating Captivate at 11 Madison, SL Green has taken full advantage of available features and programs. Building management uses Captivate’s messaging platform, ScreenCenter™, actively and has seen clear improvement in tenant communication since its implementation.
